Dr. Raymond Scott and La Verne Students Present at International Psychology Conference in Portugal (06-26-2008)
Dr. Raymond Scott, Associate Professor of Psychology, presented "Advocating for change: Creating affirming campus communities through minimizing the pervasiveness of heterosexism" with seven University of La Verne student co-presenters at the Second International Conference on Community Psychology, June 6, 2008, in Lisbon, Portugal. Six of the students are Psy.D. program graduate students: Lauren Marlotte, Danielle Bryce, Ian Carpenter, Marciela Gamboa, Natalya Godes, and Kasmira Sobkow. Also co-presenting was Elyse Hammond, an undergraduate. Dr. Scott also presented a second paper at the conference, "Dialogues on establishing foundational and core competencies in graduate education."

Dr. Hector Delgado Cited in "La Opinion" (06-18-2008)
Dr. Hector Delgado, Professor of Sociology, was cited as an authority on gay marriage in La Opinion on June 18, 2008.

ULV Students and Faculty Present at Western Psychlogical Association Convention (06-17-2008)
Two current ULV undergraduate students, Michelle Alfaro and Hala Adlouni, and two alumnae, Lana Konovalova and Lucy Kyupelyan, presented posters of containing results of their senior projects at the 88th Annual Western Psychological Association Convention held April 10-13 in Irvine, California. Among ULV faculty, Dr. Glenn Gamst, Professor of Psychology, presented two research posters on multivariate designs in kinesiology research and on the Multicultural Assessment Intervention Process model. Dr. Ngoc Bui, Associate Professor of Psychology, and her student, Michelle Alfaro, presented their poster on noncognitive factors as predictors of trait procrastination. Over 30 ULV undergraduate and graduate students attended the conference. In addition, Michelle Alfaro and Eric Panknin, two undergraduate seniors from ULV, were invited to present their research posters at the 17th Annual Psychology Undergraduate Research Conference (PURC) in May 9, 2008 at UCLA.

Dr. Issam Ghazzawi Publishes (06-17-2008)
Dr. Issam Ghazzawi, Assistant Professor of Management, published "Motivation through Setting Goals: Lessons Learned from a Technology Organization" in Journal of the Academy of Business Administration (JABA), Spring/Fall 2007, Vol. 12, numbers 1&2

ULV Students Present at SoCalSETAC (06-17-2008)
Three ULV students, Monique Chambers, Joyce De Leon, and Alma Parada, had abstracts accepted and presented posters with ULV Associate Professor of Biology, Dr. Christine Broussard, at the Southern California Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SoCalSETAC) annual meeting in May at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point, California. Their poster titles were "Effects of Diethylstilbestrol on the development of CD8+ thymocytes" (Monique Chambers), "Diethylstilbestrol Inhibits Development and Promotes Apoptosis in Embryonic Thymocytes" (Joyce De Leon), and "An Investigation of the Effects of Methoxychlor on the Embryological Development of T cells in C57BL/6 mice" (Alma Parada).
