The role of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at our various member institutions is, as stated by the NCAA, "to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image."
The SCIAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committees take this mission statement to heart and interacts with their school administration and community to benefit both the athletes and local citizenry.
Community service projects have been a past activity of the conference's SAAC organizations, and certainly others will be performed in the future.
Coaches Responsibility: Every opportunity should be given to your team's SAAC Representatives to share information with your team on a regular basis regarding the on goings of this committee. Your SAAC representatives should also be given the opportunity to hear any concerns or issues your team may have. Most of the time 5-10 minutes after practice is sufficient for these types of discussions to occur. These issues and concerns will then be brought back to be shared with the SAAC.
