Areas of research expertise:
My general area of research interest is apoptosis or programmed cell death (PCD). Specifically, I am interested in this process in plants. The model system that I am currently using is maize kernel development in which PCD normally occurs in the endosperm, but the process is accelerated in high sugar and viviparous mutants. My present focus is on the role of stress and hormones in the signaling pathway for plant apoptosis.
