Celebrating diversity

The University of La Verne will host its third annual “Engendering Diversity and Community Conference” this Wednesday through Friday.

Keynote speaker for the event is human rights activist Nontombi Naomi Tutu. Her address “Women’s Stories, Women’s Voices” will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in La Fetra Auditorium.

Other events include:

• “Women Shaping the Media” a panel discussion moderated by Associate Professor of Journalism Elizabeth Zwerling, on Wednesday from 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

• “The Clothesline Project; Bearing Witness to Violence Against Women” presented by the Iota Delta sorority March 21-23 from 11 a.m. to 3p.m. in the University Quad.

• “Race, Gender and Sexual Identity Development Poster Presentation” March 12-23.

• ‘“You Only Think You Know Me!’ Creative Readings on Gender and Sexuality” Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the West Dining Room.

• “Round Table Discussion: Bring African-American Male Students Back to College” March 23 from 1:15 to 2:45

• “Solo performer Paula Weston Solano, Excerpts from ‘Appearances’” March 23 at 5:15 p.m. in the Cabaret Theater

• “Exploring the Career Success Patterns of Women Leaders: Implications for Emerging Women Leaders and Leadership Development Programs” March 23 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
