Athletic Director Christopher Ragsdale announced Wednesday that he will be leaving the University on June 30, after serving as athletic director since July 2003.
Ragsdale has accepted the position of commissioner of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, which serves schools in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.
The HCAC includes the Division III athletic programs of Anderson College, Bluffton College, Defiance College, Franklin College, Hanover College, Manchester College, College of Mt. St. Joseph, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Transylvania University.
Ragsdale said he is looking forward to his duties as commissioner, a progressive step in his career, which will include scheduling, conference tournament planning, coordinating officials assignments and working with the presidents of the nine institutions.
“Anytime you start a new job, it’s an exciting time,” Ragsdale said.
Ragsdale said that he will miss the student-athletes and his colleagues at the University and the relationships that have developed over the time that he has been at La Verne.
“It’s been a real joy and a privilege,” Ragsdale said.
