Chavez Festival

The Cesar E. Chavez March and Festival will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, beginning at the Pomona Civic Center, which is located at 505 S. Garey Ave. in Pomona, and ending at Philadelphia Elementary School at 600 Philadelphia St. in Pomona.

This free event honors Chavez, the Mexican-American activist who helped establish the National Farm Workers Association, which then became United Farm Workers.

Folk dancers, music, food, games, activities and speakers are all scheduled for the festival, which promotes nonviolence, respecting immigrants’ rights and the community.
