Allen Easley, a professor, former dean and former president of the William Mitchell College of Law, has been named dean of the University of La Verne College of Law, University officials announced last week.
Easley will replace former Law School Dean Donald Dunn, who died in January.
With nearly 30 years of experience in academia and experience with the ABA approval process, Easley was the natural choice for the position, said Associate Law School Dean Randal Rubin, who has served for the past year as interim dean.
The ULV College of Law will be taking final steps toward achieving ABA approval in the near future.
Specializing in civil procedure, conflict of laws and federal courts, Dean Easley comes to ULV College of Law from the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minn., where he was appointed dean in 2004.
Easley’s academic experience also includes 25 years at Washburn University School of Law, 13 of them as associate dean for academic affairs.
Additionally Easley has held leadership roles in the Association of American Law Schools and the ABA’s Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar, the accrediting agency for U.S. law schools, among other key positions.
