President Stephen Morgan has signed an agreement including the University of La Verne in the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment in an effort to work on solutions dealing with global warming.
We would like to commend President Morgan in joining this effort.
The University will create a “comprehensive institutional action plan to move toward climate neutrality,” and Morgan is calling on the campus to take part in the plan.
Robert Neher, chairman of the natural sciences division, will lead this effort as the director. These actions will include setting energy efficiency standards, expanding and refining the recycling program, utilizing environmentally appropriate design and using materials with a life long durability, improving water conservation and continuing to inform students to act.
Morgan said in a press release the University’s Mission Statement, which has the goal of helping students understand their impact on the environment, makes it essential for ULV to be a part of this effort.
This is the first step in the University’s attempt to reduce and eventually eliminate the greenhouse emissions on and around campus.
We are happy the president supports an effort that is important to the University’s mission, and we applaud him for taking this initiative for the student body. |
