Yvette Underdue-Murph, director of articulation and institutional image, was recently elected president of the Consortium of Southern California Colleges and Universities.

CSCCU is a nonprofit organization of more than 70 educational institutions. Its purpose is to inform working adults of educational opportunities and offer courses and programs that fit their schedules.

“My vision as president for the next two years will be a three-prong initiative,” Underdue-Murph said.

Underdue-Murph has been involved with the CSCCU since 1997.

“Since 2001, I have served on the CSCCU board of directors in the role of chair of Strategic Committee,” Underdue-Murph said.

Although she has been elected president, Underdue-Murph will remain full time at ULV.

“This is not a promotion,” said Underdue-Murph, “I am still the Director of Articulation and Institutional Image.”
Underdue-Murph is active with the University and other institutions.

“The primary purpose of the CSCCU is to inform working adults and their employers about educational opportunities offered by Southern California colleges and universities,” Underdue-Murph said.

As president, Underdue-Murph plans to work closely with the Board of Directors and Regional Chairs to find ways to promote CSCCU.

Additionally, Underdue-Murph also plans to re-energize membership within the organization.

“An enhancement to the CSCCU official Web site will certainly assist in our collective steadfast efforts to promote the vision, purpose and mission of our organization to a broad constituency,” Underdue-Murph said.

Underdue-Murph plans to continue her involvement with the organization after her two-year term is completed.

“My plan will be to continue my active involvement in the organization’s mission to assist working adults in identifying and pursuing appropriate educational opportunities,” Underdue-Murph said. “And to assist employers and community groups in disseminating educational information to their employees.”

Underdue-Murph is on the board of directors of CSCCU with another ULV employee, Beth Walker. Walker is the marketing director for RCA-San Fernanado Valley Campus.

“The Consortium of Southern California Colleges and Universities is a professional organization,” said Adeline Cardenas-Clague, dean of
Academic Support & Retention.

“I applaud their selection of Yvette as their President,” she added.
Currently, Underdue-Murph works in establishing relationships with other educational institutions.

She also monitors graphic standards and institutional image for the University.

“She is a very talented woman,” said Cardenas-Clague.

“She is working in collaboration with ULV staff members who have responsibility for recruiting and advising transfer students,” she added.
