Nurses Strike Nurses of the Pomona Valley Community Hospital Medical Center began their 5-day strike Wednesday morning in protest of unfair pay and unsafe patient-to-nurse ratios. They strongly believe that more nurses need to he hired so patients can receive better medical attention. The nurses also feel that they are being underpaid for the work that they do. The union has offered the nurses a five percent increase in their salary for the next three years. The hospital also offered a five percent increase for the first year, but are only giving a four percent increase in the following the next two years. Internships The Mosaic Cultural Institute and the Career Services will have a guest speaker come to present about paid internships at noon on Oct. 3 in Hoover 128. The internships are open to all undergraduate and graduate students.
