Festival gives taste of L.A.

The second annual “Grand Avenue Festival and Taste of Downtown L.A.” will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Notable establishments along Grand Avenue, such as theatres, concert halls, museums and restaurants, will participate in the festivities, including art-making workshops, opera and dance.

Many of the events and performances are free; however, tickets may be required for some venues.

This one-day festival is located on Grand Avenue in between Temple Street and Second Street.

Pasadena rings in symphony

Music Director Jorge Mester and the Pasadena Symphony ring in the 76th season with classical guitarist Angel Romero at 8 p.m. on Saturday at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

The program is scheduled to include works by Schuman, Rodgrigo and Brahms.

The Pasadena Civic Auditorium is located on 300 E. Green St. in Pasadena.

‘Voice of the People’

The University of La Verne Chorale and Chamber Singers, conducted by Stephen Gothold and accompanied by Enyoung Sohng, will be performing at 8 p.m. Thursday in Founders Auditorium.

General Admission is $5, while student admission is free.
