| MyULV gets needed update |
| Posted Nov. 2, 2007 |
Coming soon to a computer near you: a central portal that will make your life at the University of La Verne easier. Hard to believe, but it’s true. The University is catching up with the times with the launch of the Luminis portal expected for December. The user interface will be user-friendly and geared toward taking users less time as they will no longer have to go back to the ULV homepage each time get to another portal. With the new central portal students and faculty will be able to access MyULV, the e-mail system and the calendar all under one login. This is a big step in making it easier for students and faculty to access critical information. After the initial step of having Luminis available with the email system and the MyULV, other systems will follow, like the calendar, Blackboard, Leopac and a nifty address book complete with all the main ULV contacts that we may need from time to time. Not only will the portal link the most common Web pages we visit, new features will be added to further increase our ability to get the information we need fast and efficiently. Finally time won’t be wasted having to go back to the ULV homepage to go to check e-mail then returning to the home page to log on to MyULV, then going back to the homepage to find the find the phonebook section, etc. When students are happy, ULV is happy. Now all we have to do is cross our fingers and wait for the new system to arrive by its expected December due date. Though it may be premature, we would just like to say kudos to OIT, the Center for Teaching and Learning, Student Life and the others who have spearheaded this much needed update. |
