Let the count down begin: 6 weeks to go

Marilee Lorusso
Life Editor

Over spring break I tried to think of something great to write about in my next column.

I was hoping that I would do something really fun or stumble upon something really unique and out of the ordinary.

Maybe even have some funny stories to recall that were worthy enough for me to write about what happened over break.

Unfortunately for me, while my peers were traveling to fun, and most importantly, places other than La Verne, I was stuck at my apartment for the week.

I guess it really wasn’t that big of a deal. I can’t complain because I actually did go out and do a few things, but this was my first break as a 21-year-old and I had high expectations.

Rather than partying it up in Vegas or sipping piña coladas in Mexico, I found myself in mile-long lines full of parents and their little kids at Disneyland.

I am not going to lie, I do love Disneyland, but I was hoping to do something a little more exciting than my amusement park trip. I am sad to say this trip was probably the biggest, most exciting thing I did during break.

The next day I found myself waking up at 7 a.m. to make it to court on time only to sit in a jury room for a little over an hour waiting to see if I would be one of the lucky ones chosen for jury duty.

Fortunately for everyone the cases were cancelled for the day and we were all sent on our way.

It just gets better.

I spent my Wednesday in Los Angeles at the Japanese American Museum which I have to say was really interesting.

I love going to museums because it’s a great opportunity to see things that you may not see every day.

I did enjoy the trip, but to be completely honest, the thought of going to a museum during my spring break for a class while some of my friends were going on road trips and cruises made the museum a little less fun.

Don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy my break and I am not trying to bore you with my rant about what I didn’t get to do.

I got to relax and kick back and spend time with my family and friends, which sadly, I don’t really get to do during the semester.

Most importantly, I actually got the opportunity to sleep in (despite my early morning call to jury duty) and do absolutely nothing, which was definitely something that I needed.

But I just wish that I had an exciting story about the greatest spring break of my life.

Too bad the best I have is getting to see the Electric Parade at California Adventure and getting harassed by some random guy while walking with my friend to my car in Los Angeles.

Break went by so fast that it felt like it was just a little pause in my crazy schedule like the weekends.

I tried my best to stretch it out by not doing a lot, but nothing could stop that dreaded first day back from break from coming.

Needless to say I guess I was just expecting too much from a week off.
Now we are all back to the same busy routines with no break in sight.

So all we have left to do now is look forward to summer.

Let the countdown begin: six weeks and counting and then you can find me anywhere but La Verne.
