Over the past year you have learned a lot about me through my columns and now it is time for you to know what I want in a man. And what I want is a cowboy.
People can take the word cowboy in several different ways but when I say cowboy, I mean that I want a simple kind of man.
I often think that I was born in the wrong era or at least in the wrong state, because I popped out a blonde-haired blue eyed baby in 1986 in Newport Beach, Calif., but I was born with a heart of the West.
Where I come from there are very few, if any, true cowboys left that tend cattle or rodeo professionally for a living, but I’m not giving up that easily.
I understand that it is not the most glamorous lifestyle but, whether you believe it or not, that is exactly the type of life I would love to live.
I know I don’t look the part but once you get to know me you will soon realize that I like to get down and dirty.
My favorite pair of shoes are some beat up Ariats, I think dipping Copenhagen is a hobby, I drink whiskey like water and I would much rather ride a horse than drive a car any day of the week.
While girls my age enjoy shopping and going to the beach, I spend my spare time riding, camping, hunting and fishing.
I have been riding and traveling to rodeos since as long as I can remember and have gained a great appreciation for those who live the cowboy lifestyle and in all honesty I wouldn’t mind living that life myself.
I understand that it is hard on your body, mind and family but if you’re doing what you love, it can’t be all that bad, right?
There is just something intriguing about a man who spends his days riding 1,600 pound bull and can still be gentle enough to two-step me around the dance floor.
I don’t care if you rodeo, heard cattle or muck stalls for a living but i do have one rule, no sheep ranches. This isn’t Brokeback Mountain guys it’s my love life.
I want a good hearted cowboy who not only respects me but his parents, small children, old folks, animals, his country and still knows how to have a good time and put a smile on my face.
He needs to be closely tied to the outdoors and appreciate the impact of the land, the grass, the streams, the color of the sky and the climate.
I want to live on a large piece of land somewhere in the Midwest with an old country-style home and a swimming hole or lake within walking distance.
When the day is done I want to sit on my front porch with my cowboy and not see anything for miles, eat some supper and saddle up the horses for a sunset ride.
I need someone who can keep up with my country lifestyle and I think I need a cowboy to fill those shoes – or, shall I say, boots.
I’ve got one last thing to say to you fellas and that is…cowboy up.
