Welcome to the College of Arts and Science. This college, in its commitment to excellence, is the very heart and soul of the University of La Verne as we view ourselves as being the primary providers of the mission of the institution to "provide rich educational opportunities that relate to both the academic and personal development of our students."
As you explore the educational opportunities provided by the academic departments in the College please consider the fundamental interconnectedness of knowledge offered throughout the disciplines that comprise the liberal arts and sciences.
The 85 faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences are in eighteen departments, which offer a total of 41 different B.A. and B.S. degrees and 14 minors or certificate programs. We also offer graduate programs in Psychology including master's degrees in Counseling and in Marriage and Family Therapy and an American Psychological Association approved Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Community/Clinical Psychology. In our commitment to a liberal arts and sciences education as the core to any major at the University, every student at ULV must obtain a substantial part of their education in courses offered by the College through our General Education program.
The ULV commitment to the individual student is attained by a dedicated faculty who are pledged to individual mentoring with their students. This is evident by their engagement with scholarship and service, primarily having an impact on the mentoring process with students. In fulfilling this aspect of the mission the faculty in the college each year produce approximately 250 books, publications and professional presentations.
