Opportunities to Support Service to the Business and Professional Communities

We encourage faculty to work with the business, government and professional communities. This is one of the benefits of following a "scholar practitioner" model when attracting faculty. A key part of our pathway to excellence is the creation of Centers for Professional Excellence. These are intended to be our formal outreach vehicles used to support the business, government and professional communities.

Our first three centers include:

The Center for Strategic Thinking:
The Center's mission is to provide educational programs and on-site support of strategic significance to business, government, and non-profit organizations; to foster the advancement of strategic planning and strategic thinking; and to provide experiential learning opportunities to our students.

The Center for Health and Aging:
The Center's mission is to take a leadership role in fostering productive and healthy aging. It is achieved through excellence in education and training programs, research and consulting, community outreach and community/business partnerships, and hosting major events that address health and aging issues and trends affecting individuals, healthcare providers, businesses, governmental organizations, and communities.

The Center for Women in Leadership Development:
The Center's overall mission is to increase the number of women in executive roles, especially attaining positions on nonprofit boards, commissions and public agencies, and business boards of directors. In addition mentors will guide women through professional development courses. The Center will also hold mentoring sessions for postgraduates and those nearing graduation.
