Offers an introduction to the conventions of creative writing through a multi-genre approach to study.
English 306: Creative Writing: Theory & Practice (4 Units)
Explores theories of creative writing while critically examining their orientations, preferences, and practices.
English 309: Writing Workshop (4 Units)
Students compose and revise creative compositions explored in Introduction to Creative Writing or Advanced Creative Writing in a community environment.
English 499: Publishing for Creative Writing (1 Unit) Publication of Prism Review and other Creative Writing publications.
OR
English 315: Desktop Publishing for Theater (2 Units)
Production of Entracte and other Theater publications.

English 302: Diverse Discourses (4 units) Intensive writing and reading of non-traditional discursive forms (multimedia, performance) with analysis and application of discourse theory.
English 303: Poetry (4 Units) Intensive writing and reading of poetry with analysis and application of poetic theory.
English 304: Prose (4 Units) Intensive writing and reading of fiction and creative non-fiction with analysis and application of narrative theory.
English 316: Playwriting & Screenwriting I (4 Units) Reading and writing of dramatic text
English 307: Special Topics in Creative Writing (4 Units) Special Topics in creative writing as designed by instructor.
*A Major in Creative Writing is available through the ULV Special Major option, or students can earn the BA in Theater with a Performance Writing focus.
