In honor of its 75th anniversary as an approved teacher credentialing institution, the University of La Verne School of Education and Organizational Leadership hosted lecturer Jim Burke on Tuesday evening in Founder's Auditorium. Burke is an English teacher at Burlingame High School in Northern California. He discussed his program entitled "ACCESS," which teaches reading, writing and study skills. Burke is also the author of "How to Teach Students to Read the World," and "The English Teacher's Companion: A Complete Guide to Curriculum." He is currently working on "Tools for Thought" and "The Reader's Handbook."
