Letters to the Editor
Campus Times
March 15, 2002
Dear Editor,
No, we will never forget that it was the firemen, policemen and ordinary
human beings who were and are the real heroes of Sept. 11 ["Wrong
heroes being recognized," March 8]. Television coverage may make
it look like we have gone back to our normal lives, and it may look like
citizens are rushing to pay attention to the next media event. But we will
never forget those heroes. I promise you.

Dear Editor,
This letter is concerning the article titled "RAs
should also abide by rules," which was printed Feb. 15. For starters,
the housing staff chose the most amazing people to fill this years RA/Pa
positions, people with kind hearts and warm souls, among other amazing qualities.
They are always willing to help and and they will not stop until they know
you've been helped. The article written about our RAs/PAs was all based
on false information and was ridiculous to us, the residents, who allegedly
witness all this "destructive, irresponsible, arrogant behavior."
The fact that the word 'arrogant' was used to describe RAs/PAs is "a
load", never, ever have I come across one of my RAs/PAs, in my building,
without being greeted by a hello or a simple smile. Now people seems to
to think that RAs/PAs are only RAs/PAs twenty-four seven. Well, I hate to
burst your bubble, but that's not the case. RAs/PAs, just like everyone
else have class and do need to study. So yes, they are busy. Isn't it funny
though, that no matter how busy my RA is I always manage to see her a couple
times a day. In fact, my RA always leaves a note on her board saying where
she is and when she plans on getting back. RAs/PAs have lives, believe it
or not, and they are human beings who also deserve to go out and have a
good time, granted even I have seen RAs/PAs at parties but not once have
I seen an RA or a PA intoxicated or engaging in sexual activity on campus.
As far as lock out and other issues that require keys, "hello"
you people do realize that there is only one pair of keys, due to safety
reasons, for four RAs in Stu-Han for example. So yes, in those cases, residents
are asked to please contact campus safety. There are also instances where
my RA might be in class or out running errands, yet I have never had a problem
finding another RA in my building willing to help me out., that includes
anything from maintenance to personal issues. The thing that really puzzles
me is, "Didn't your teacher every tell you to write your name on your
paper?" Or maybe you knew all of this was going to be thrown back at
you. In my opinion you should keep the grudge against your RA/PA strictly
between you and your RA.
I appreciate the fact that you took the time to read this.
