Students at the University of La Verne may soon be able to retrieve their midterm grades via the Internet.

A new process being considered by the registrar's office would allow students to log on to the registrar's Website during mid-semester and view their grades in progress.

For several semesters the Registrar's Office has received complaints from students who are unsure about their grades and where they stand in their classes during mid-semester.

Having professors submit grades during mid-semester over via the Web would not only provide students with their grades but would also relieve some of the pressure on students and the registrar's office, officials said.

And it would also make it easier for professors to let students know where they stand.

This idea, which is being developed by the Registrar's Office, is currently just that-an idea.

"Right now there is just discussion on whether we should do it or not," said Registrar Marilyn Davies.

One of the main concerns of the Registrar's Office is for the students, Davies said.

Students could benefit from having a better idea of their progress and knowing whether they need to take any further steps   to withdraw or change from letter grade to the credit/no credit option.

"Of course I would use this method," said freshman Eleni Sokai. "I would want to know where I stand.

Sokai added, "I thought the teachers are responsible for letting students know where they stand, so there shouldn't be a problem unless the teachers are not doing so."
