Architects get feedback

David Goodale and Armando Gonzalez, architects from a Pasadena firm, along with the campus center planning committee, were available in the first of many open forums and focus group meetings to discuss the Campus Center Project, Tuesday in La Fetra Hall.

There were two opportunities to join the architects and the committee and ask questions in an open format.

One of them was held at 2 p.m. and the other was held at 5 p.m.

A relatively small turnout resulted with the meeting being more like a focus group where rich ideas were introduced, said Loretta Rahmani, dean of student affairs and member of the Campus Center Planning Committee.

Rahmani introduced the Goodale and Gonzalez architectural team before they spoke on how the image of the Campus Center is currently being perceived.

The focus of the development is to have a building that will be welcoming and maximize the public space that will be provided.

The audience was free to ask questions and provide suggestions concerning how the center will look and what it will hold.

Issues from handicapped parking to a possible terrace surrounding the third floor were introduced.

Elizabeth Ramirez, academic advisor, represented the CAPA students and what they would like to see come out of the new building.

One suggestion was to add a different type of kiosk, perhaps electrical, where current information could be found with ease.

All ideas will be taken into consideration by the committee and the architectural team, ULV spokesman Charles Bentley said.

Everyone is encouraged to offer his or her ideas not only in the next open forum but also through e-mail or in person.

Future open forums and focus groups will be held as the campus center planning continues.
