The University of La Verne football players will trade in pads for golf clubs on June 24 at Sierra Lakes Country Club in Fontana where they will host a golf tournament fundraiser.

The tournament welcomes friends, families and alumni of ULV to celebrate the Leopard football tradition. The cost to enter is $100 per person, which includes golfing, dinner and a raffle. There will also be an auction. Many players and coaches that have been involved in the program dated back to the 1930s have been contacted and are expected to attend.

"This is something we plan to do for many years to come," head coach Don Morel said. "The tradition of the La Verne football program is very rich and alive. The camaraderie between coaches and players gets stronger as years go by."

Former coach Roland Ortmayer will be in attendance. He coached at football team from 1948-1990.

"This will give many people a chance to see Ort," Morel said.

Funds raised through the tournament will benefit the ULV football program. Approximately 144 golfers are expected.

The field is filling up quickly according to the organizational staff, so get your spot reserved as soon as possible.
