Nobel Laureate comes to town
Rudolph A. Marcus, who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 11 years
ago, will be on campus at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29 to discuss his life
and professional accomplishments in the La Fetra Lecture Hall.
New boss for campus dept.
Frank L. Montalvo joins ULV as the new chief of human resources, effective
Nov. 17.
A university search committee selected him out of a pool of candidates.
Montalvo's career spans 30 years, including leadership at Loyola Marymount
University, Stanford University Hospital, Occidental College and the University
of California, Irvine.
He has previously developed new employee programs to improve training
and orientation.
Montalvo graduated from Claremont Graduate University with a degree
in management.
Online editor to talk
Alexander Cockburn, the editor of the Internet newsletter Counterpunch
will be on campus at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, in Hoover 127.
Cockburn will be discussing politics, journalism and current events.
