The University of La Verne women’s soccer team was postponed on Wednesday due to the local rainstorm. The Leopards have been busy all week long with a rescheduled game on Monday against The University of Redlands and a game on Saturday against Occidental Tigers.

Monday’s game against Redlands was held at Ben Hines field. Redlands is the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leading team.

UR has an overall record of 13-3 and a 9-1 in conference.

ULV has an overall record of 4-10-1. And 3-5-1 in conference.

ULV had the lead the entire first half of the game with a goal by junior Nataly Clavel.

Clavel led the game with two attempted shots and goalkeeper sophomore Lauren Britt had a game-high of 10 saves throughout the game.

Only 33 seconds into the second half, Redlands scored there first goal, bringing the game to a tie. A few minutes later Redlands scored their second and final goal of the game, defeating La Verne, 2-1.

Saturday’s game was a much better game for the Leopards. The game went into double overtime and ended with a bang. ULV put the first score on the board by senior defenseman Noelle Feesago.

ULV did not let the Tigers score until the 40th minute of the game, forcing the Leopards to go into the first overtime.

Overtimes are usually a dreaded thing for the women, but this time Feesago’s second goal in the second overtime gave ULV the victory, 2-1 – its first in six overtime games this season.

Sophomore forward Amber Lejay led the women with four attempted shots and sophomore defenseman Mercedes Bermudez had three.

Feesago was definitely the star of the game with both the Leopards’ goals.

The women move on and play tomorrow at Whittier and on Sunday they play at Ben Hines field against Cal Lutheran.
