Letters to the Editor
Campus Times
October 31, 2003
Dear Editor,
We the men of Phi Delta Theta would first like to start off by saying
thank you to all who have supported and made our transition back on campus
a smooth and accepting one.
We cannot begin to tell you how good it feels to be back and operating
as an organization once again. We would especially like to thank Sigma Kappa,
Iota Delta, Phi Sigma Sigma, Chi Delta Omicron, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and
the Office of Student Life for all their continual efforts and support this
year.
As the year progresses, many activities are being offered to ULV students,
especially with Halloween tonight. There seems to be quite a buzz on campus
about the Halloween Party that will be thrown at Jerico's Mile tonight,
but there seems to be some confusion as to who is organizing the party.
We, the men of Phi Delta Theta, would like to go on record and state
that the brothers of Phi Delta Theta are in no way affiliated with this
party. Due to the fact that Phi Delta Theta has traditionally thrown the
Halloween parties in the past, people are under the assumption that we will
be throwing this year's party as well. While there may be members of the
Phi Delta Theta present at this party, it does not in any way reflect any
formal participation with this year's event.
While Jerico's Mile seems to be the hot topic for Halloween, this is
not the only option for students who are still undecided as to what to do
for the evening. The University has provided several opportunities for students
to have fun and get involved.
The Office of Housing and Residential Life will be hosting its annual
"Trick-or-Treat in Stu-Han" along with the theater department
hosting its premiere of "The Rocky Horror Show" at midnight. We
feel that both of these activities are great ways for students to have a
good time, both providing fun and entertaining outlets for whatever suits
students' needs. Phi Delta Theta would like to encourage students to have
a fun time, but please be safe at all times no matter what activity you
choose.
Once again, Phi Delta Theta appreciates all the support and encouragement
we have received from the La Verne community and hope that we can continue
to work together in making ULV student life as fun and exciting as possible
for every student.
The Brothers of Phi Delta Theta
Dear Editor,
Wow... Thank you!
What a pleasure to pick up the Oct. 17 Campus Times and read your supportive
insights about the women's volleyball program ["Keep
up the good work, volleyball"].
I share a personal thank you for taking the time and using the space
to support these wonderful women, the entire athletic department and the
women's volleyball program in particular.
These women are dedicated to living up to your insights. We hope
to make the ULV community proud in the NCAA national playoffs in November
and December.
Again, we appreciate your public statement of support of this storied
program.
