Music from Southern Italy’s oral tradition will take over Founders Auditorium as the music department presents Musicántica tonight at 8 p.m. The concert will feature Roberto Catalano and Enzo Fina, both native Italians, who will perform Mediterranean world music, mixing traditional music with their own compositions. Admission is free for students and $5 for general admission.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” continues at 7:30 tonight and tomorrow with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Dailey Theatre. Admission is $3 for students, $5 for faculty and $10 for general admission. Reservations are recommended. Please call Ext. 4386.
The Honors Program and Creative Writing Program will present the next “Voices in Action” event featuring poet Brandon Cesmat, author of “Driven Into the Shade” on Nov. 16. He will give a lecture at 4 p.m. in the Harris Art Gallery, followed by a poetry reading and book signing at 6:30 p.m. in the Cabaret Theatre.
All students, faculty and friends are also invited to a free master class led by Cesmat in the Wilson Library after the poetry reading. “Voices in Action” is a master class series by the Contemporary California Writers at ULV that seeks to bring guest writers to the University. Rico Coffee in La Verne presents the Royale Garden Dixieland Band at 8 p.m. tonight and Vocal Stylings of Benjamin Vega at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. Come for the free entertainment and stay for the coffee.
