The School of Business and Global Studies has welcomed a new dean.
Gordon Badovick, professor of marketing, comes to ULV with a bachelor's
from California State University of Los Angeles and a doctorate from the
University of Oregon.
The University of La Verne School of Business and Global Studies recently
welcomed its new dean Gordon Badovick.
Badovick is replacing Verne Orr, who recently retired.
Badovick has been at the University since July 1.
He came to ULV after working for five years as dean of the school of
management at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
The search committee and the faculty of the School of Business and Global
Studies chose Badovick to take on the job.
"He was our top choice and we are fortunate to have him,"
said Ibrahim Helou, associate professor of finance and chairman of the graduate
business programs.
Helou said among the reasons for choosing Badovick was that he "understands
the value of liberal arts in business education."
He added that Badovick also "understands the challenges that adult
students face and helps them succeed."
Badovick said that among his goals at ULV, are building a national image
for the department and promoting the school in the business community.
He said he came here because he "felt the School of Business' potential
in growth and recognition."
Badovick commented about how there is a challenge to grow at ULV, which
he says is something he likes.
Among Badovick's challenges, he said, is improving the University's
School of Business and Global Studies.
His contributions so far have been welcomed.
"Badovick is already leading us toward change," Helou said.
"He is now working on upgrading the curriculums for graduate and undergraduate
students."
