During the fall season one can look on the ground and no longer see concrete and grass, but leaves, sticks and acorns. Jami Newcomer, 8, of La Verne spent a Monday afternoon out and about on the University of La Verne campus searching for acorns with her father Bill. A fourth grade teacher at Oakridge Elementary School in Chino Hills, Bill collects acorns every year to use in an arts and crafts activity for his students.
