Combining for a total of 13 goals in the last two games is keeping the University of La Verne Women's Soccer team at the No. 3 ranking in the Western Region.

On Wednesday, the Leopards promptly annihilated the Whittier Poets with a rock 'n' roll version of a soccer game that had the Poets wishing there might be a 10-goal rule in soccer.

The final was 9-0 in favor of La Verne. The Leopards had an outstanding night, outshooting the Poets, 37-3.

The onslaught began with the Zwissler connection, as Jaqui took the pass from sister Jenny and one-touched the ball off her chest into the fish net.

The rest of the evening proceeded not so quietly, with senior Ana Delgado scoring off the assist from junior Kelly Perkins; Jaqui Zwissler finding the pass from Delgado to score; senior Jenny Zwissler adding one more from the pass off senior Kari Trotter; Delgado this time mixing it up with senior Jenny Zwissler's corner kick; Trotter scoring via a fumbled ball following the shot by Jenny Zwissler; senior Lisa Thomas finding the back of the net off the assist from Delgado; junior Amber Hall needing no roadside assistance scoring from deep outside the box, and topping it all off was a corner kick by Jenny Zwissler that happened to be kicked in by a Poet who mistakenly thought the Leopards needed help scoring.

The first of the two games was played Saturday against Occidental.
The Leopards jumped out ahead of the Tigers right from the start with three goals unanswered.

The Leopards first got on the board when sophomore forward Angel Mejico got a shot off in front of the right post that she ended up paying for when an Occidental defensive back placed Mejico into the right post subtly.

While the Tigers were not winning the game on the scoreboard, they might have been winning if they were in the ring. The game was filled with elbows, lowered shoulders and snide remarks from the Tiger's coach.

"Oxy came at us hard, we just came back at them a lot harder. It was a real physical game out there," said Delgado.

The next goal was to come from the foot of Jenny Zwissler, who was able to one-touch the ball in between the posts off the assist from Mejico.

Delgado then was able to find Jaqui Zwissler in the middle with the centering pass from the right side. Zwissler was then able to out dance two defenders, to do what she does best, put the leather in the net.

Not quite yet content with her first waltz earlier in the game, Jaqui Zwissler took the lob from senior fullback Tori Bare and then promptly proceeded to cut the rug with the goalie, once again putting the leather in the net to put ULV out of reach 4-0. The Tigers did manage to get on the board with a goal before the time expired.

The next matchup for the Leopards is tomorrow, 7 p.m. on Ben Hines Field vs. Santa Cruz who is currently ranked behind La Verne at No. 4 in the West Region.
