With the need for more space in the growing Communications Department, a mini-storage facility has been built to fulfill these needs.

The department had been asking for this extra storage area for a year and at the end of the summer, the facility was provided. The space is in the Student Center, adjacent to the mail room.

Associate Professor of Communications Don Pollock said, "We plan to use the space for our tape library, a place for equipment repair and as a workroom facility."

Currently, the tape library in being stored in the television lab, which is located in the back of the Student Center, near the Minority Resource Center.

"We have the TV lab and that is the only place to store our tapes, so we will have more room [to teach] once we get the tapes out of the TV lab," said Pollock.

Because the Communications Department has a contract with the city of La Verne to run LVTV, the community access cable channel, it has an abundance of materials and tapes that needs to be easily accessible.

According to Director of Facilities Management Brian Worley, the storage facility is made of one inch plywood with a solid wooden door facing the Student Center desk.
