On Saturday, Oct. 26, Musicantica, a group of four musicians, performed
the music of southern Italy. The group consists of Roberto Catalano, Luciano
Miele, and Enzo Fina, all from Italy, and Alissa Simon from New York. Catalano
plays a one-stringed festival instrument typically used for dances. The
instrument is made of cane and dried pig bladder and can be played like
a cello or an upright bass. This is the second year the group has performed
at La Verne.
