Film Series
Skirball Cultural Center presents the film series, "A Nation of
Strangers: Immigration in Film." Films will be presented from Nov.
17 to Jan. 12 These seven screenings, featuring Hollywood classics and lesser
known gems from Central America and Eastern Europe, paint a richly textured
mosaic of people and cultures in transformation. Admission for each film
is $5 for general admission, $4 for members and $3 for students.
Open House
Hillcrest Homes, a continuing care retirement community in La Verne,
is celebrating fall with a Country Fair and Open House Saturday, Nov. 2,
from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tours will be given by residents of the facility.
Free Concert
Borders Books and Music in the Montclair Plaza will feature guitarist
Michael Ryan and flutist Adam Kaplan. Both will perform selections from
"Between Earth & Sky," Saturday, Nov. 2, from 7-9 p.m.
Music Series
University of La Verne's Concert Series will feature a senior recital
with pianist/ composer Suzanne Hamlin in Founders Auditorium on Saturday,
Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. There will also be a Music Hour on Tuesday, Nov. 5,
at 4 p.m. in the University Chapel.
