If you have not been to the eastern shore of Baja, you now have the
opportunity to do so, and join other colleges on a spring break trip to
San Felipe, Mexico.
San Felipe has sunny skies, gentle evening breezes and bathtub-warm
ocean waters that reach 86 degrees. It is a place of natural beauty just
seven hours from La Verne.
L.A. Ski and Sun Tours will accommodate a four-day trip to San Felipe,
on March 16-20 and March 21-25. For University of La Verne students, the
dates will be March 21-25.
The spring break trip is promoted to more than 30 schools including
UC Riverside, UCLA, University of Nevada at Las Vegas, UC San Diego, Cal
Poly Pomona and many more.
An off the beach room is offered for the price of $139 and a beachfront
room is $189. "Highest price is a four star hotel for $259, in my opinion
is not needed because you won't be inside much," said Tony Tong, head
representative.
A $50 deposit is required for each room before Feb.18 and the final
payment must be made by March 3.
Also, in dealing with transportation, LA Ski and Sun Tours will offer
a first class bus for $50 more, for those without transportation.
According to Tong, San Felipe will be catering to approximately 4,000
students from different colleges. Tong, familiar with school trips, recommends
going to San Felipe highly.
He said, "Last year the ski trip was a blast, a lot of students
enjoyed it." He is confident the San Felipe trip will have the same
success, of the Lake Tahoe trip which was last year.
Kenneth Larribas, a student from UC Riverside, said that he had the
time of his life last year when he went on a similar trip to San Felipe.
"I'm planning to go again this year with my fraternity," said
Larribas.
Reel Big Fish, the M-80's, Groove Line, Mad Tea and Common Sense are
the bands scheduled to play live. There will be activities such as a three
on three basketball tournament and a two-on-two co-ed volleyball tournament.
According to Tong, ESPN's X Games will be there, taking part in the
activities.
According to L.A. Ski and Sun Tours, their will be no cover charge at
the Rockodile, a bar on the beach. Food and drink discounts will be offered.
