Late Wednesday afternoon, campus security officer Tom Erickson found
bees swarming near the south end of the Mainiero parking lot. When the swarm
finally settled down, they found comfort in a tree located in the lot (above).
"This is the second time this happened. It just happened last week,"
said Erickson.

Later, Dr. Jay Jones, professor of biology and biochemistry (above),
said, "Wild bees are endangered because of varroa mites and tracheal
mites, so we will take them up to the Angeles Mountains." Dr. Jones
moved the bees at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
