Students who have applied or have been admitted to the University of La Verne will be welcomed by the Admissions Department for the second annual ULV Showcase tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Doug Wible, director of admissions, said, "The purpose of ULV Showcase is to provide an opportunity for students to see the campus at a decision-making stage."

This year, students from high schools will sign up for sessions, have a barbecue lunch and take optional campus tours. The schedule for ULV Showcase will consist of four break out sessions, conducted two times each throughout the day. Each session will be held by a department, in which they will provide information to the students about their curriculum.

"Students that have been admitted or have applied to ULV who want to come to this event or Spotlight Weekend, but live out of state, will be reimbursed the fee of their plane ticket if they decide to enroll," said Wible.

With Don Morel, head football coach, as keynote speaker for ULV Showcase, five other departments will give sessions to students. These include the Student Affairs panel, Computer Science and Natural Science Department, the ULV Debate Team and the Theater Department.

"My speech is going to be about my experience as a student and now as the head football coach at La Verne; I hope they [students] get a good feel for what ULV is all about and I hope to communicate that to them," said Morel.

Mail is sent out to each student informing them about ULV Showcase. The Admissions Office's telecounseling team will call them a week before the event takes place as a reminder.

"We expect 200 to 300 students, including their parents, to come to this function," said Wible.
