Junior Alexandra Hernandez adds some incense on an altar for the Day
of the Dead observance. Elena Cardeña, Catholic Campus Minister,
participated with the Latino Student Forum in a Day of the Dead ceremony
Tuesday night. The ceremony traditionally takes place on Nov. 2 throughout
Mexico, especially in the state of Michoacan where it is very common. The
event corresponds with All Souls Day and is "a way to remember the
dead," said Cardeña. The ceremony consists of sharing stories
and prayers in memory of loved ones who have died.
