Dear Editor,

As a former U.S. Marine and Desert Storm veteran, I must ask for those who feel compelled to seek war and aggression as the answer to think again ["U.S. should stand up to Iraq," Nov. 14]. War is not always the answer to aggression (it rarely is an answer at all) and especially should not be used as a solution to a "possible" threat.

Sure Saddam may have chemical weapon potential -- so let the U.N. inspection teams go back to work without us. He is simply asking that we not participate in these teams. This is insulting to the U.S., but should national fervor lead to killing? I think not.
