Black History

The Southwest Museum in Los Angeles celebrates Black History Month tomorrow at 1 p.m.

Dr. Edgar Love, a professor at El Camino College, will show a slide-illustrated lecture, "Blacks in Mexico." Dr. Love has researched Mexico's Black population for the past 30 years in Ometepec, Maldonado, Cuajinicuilapa and San Nicolas.

The Southwest Museum is located at 234 Museum Drive, Los Angeles. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, $2 ages 7-18 and children under 6 are free. For more information, call (213) 221-2164, ext. 221.

 

Scholarships

The Music Department is holding auditions March 7 and 14 for music scholarships. Applications can be picked up from Dr. Reed Gratz, professor of music. The deadline is March 1.

 

Getty Museum

The following exhibitions are on view in the Museum's galleries.

"Incendiary Art: The Representation of Fireworks in Early Modern Europe." Open through March 1.

"Capturing Time: A Celebration of Photography." Open through March 22.

"Masterpieces of Medieval Renaissance Manuscript Illumination." Open through March 22.

"A Matter of Taste: Alexis Smith's Commission for the Getty Center Restaurant." Open through April 12.

The Getty Center is located at 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles. Admission is free and parking is $5. Reservations are required. Call (310) 440-7300.
