Senior Michael Morrow is spending his last year at La Verne as the
ASF president. Morrow works for the city in Monterey Park. One of his duties
is to implement the city's recycling program, a program he believes is worthwhile.
Morrow has done community work for the city of Azusa, for which he was named
Citrus College "Man of the Year."
Citrus College "Man of the Year," Associated Students Federation
(ASF) Forum president and employee of Monterey Park Recycling. That is Michael
Morrow, a senior second-year student from Citrus College.
Morrow, a native of West Covina, was named the college's "Man of
the Year" his last year there.
"It was an incredible feeling and surprise. Even though I was involved,
I didn't think I was going to win," he said.
Morrow went to West Covina High School, where he said that he, "wasn't
involved in student government, but in many clubs." Instead, his involvement
in student government began at Citrus College.
"I was in student government for one year and I was also a senator
for the interclub council," he said.
From Citrus, Morrow decided to attend the University of La Verne for
what he said was, "a strong program in student life and in my major
and that made it an easy choice."
Being a public administration major, Morrow wants to work in city government
and city management with the hopes of one day becoming President of the
United States. Presently, he is an intern at the Monterey Park Recycling
center.
"It has a real positive impact and helps with my career,"
said Morrow.
Morrow would really like to bring communication to the campus. "We
need communication between students and the Associated Students Federation."
That is one of the president's goals for the student body, is to be
more active in telling him what the students want.
"I put suggestion boxes up all over school in hopes that the students
will tell us what they want. We represent every student and we need input
from them.
We need to have open communication lines from both sides, only together
we can get things better," he said.
Morrow credits his parents for supporting his school and social life.
He also said that he gets a lot of his work ethic from his parents. Morrow
credits Kate Mueller, coordinator for student development programs, for
her help and supportiveness in helping him achieve his goals as president
of ASF Forum. Morrow states that he and Mueller, "work well together."
As for being the student body president, Morrow said, "It is something
that I never thought I could accomplish, but it is a great feeling and I
look forward to the responsibility."
