All University of La Verne students are invited to an afternoon of entertainment,
as the Associated Students Federation (ASF) Forum presents "Spring
Fair" next Thursday.
The event, which is the second in the Forum's tradition, will be held
in the University Mall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aramark Dining Services will
serve lunch free of charge to commuters, and on-campus residents may use
their meal cards.
Through L.A. Partyworks, a Monrovia-based party supply store, the Forum
will help to provide a number of arcade games for students to enjoy throughout
the event. Among the features are the "Joust," "Acroflight,"
"Prize Booth," "Slam Dunk Obstacle," "Big Bout
Boxing" and "Clear-climb Wall." In addition, plans for reserving
a disc jockey are underway, but not confirmed.
Juniors Eboni Stanford and Fred Baker, both Forum members, have taken
primary responsibility for planning "Spring Fair."
Stanford said the Forum has allocated about $4,000 for the event. "I
think it's a good end-of-the-year wrap up ... a chance for students to act
like big kids and just have fun," she said.
In addition, Stanford said that students who are victors of each event
will receive raffle tickets for a chance to enter the prize booth and win
gift certificates and other prizes. The booth will not be operated continuously,
rather periodically according to the number of people entered in the raffle.
"Even though we're in college, we still need to have fun once in
a while," said Stanford, adding that, if weather does not permit, the
Fair may take place in the Old Gym.
