The mission of the College of Business and Public Management is to provide our online undergraduate and graduate students with a broad-based management education that emphasizes the application of theory to management practice and builds conceptual skills and core values needed to become effective leaders and managers in today's rapidly changing global business environment.
The University of La Verne's Bachelor of Public Administration degree will assist current and aspiring managers and administrators in gaining insights, skills, and a wide range of human relations and technical abilities for dealing with organizational productivity and performance. The program guides students through the exploration of classic and contemporary theories and demonstrates how to apply these new ideas and strategies. The program stresses a skill-building approach to change management in culturally diverse environments.
This is an academic and professional program offering basic coursework in the theories, as well as the operations and procedures of public management. Students will be exposed to the theories and practices involved in program, resources, and political management. Experience in applying these skills will be gained through special projects, and applied research. Minimum units required for the major - 40 units.
Applicants to the Online Public Administration degree program will be considered for admission if they have completed a minimum of 32 semester hours of transferable college credit from a regionally accredited college or university. The 32 semester hours should include English 110. If a student does not have English 110 completed, it can be the first course the student enrolls in online. Applicants whose cumulative GPA is less than 2.00 must consult with an Academic Advisor to determine admission status before enrolling in any courses.
