Dean's Statement

Dr. Leonard Pellicer The cornerstone of the University of La Verne has always been an enduring commitment to a values orientation that features: strong academics, respect for diversity, lifelong learning and community service. The Department of Organizational Leadership in the School of Education and Organizational Leadership has a long and well-established tradition of training and developing outstanding leaders who are knowledgeable about theory, skilled in its practical application, and able to make significant contributions to the institutions and organizations that they serve.

As one of the leading programs in California, and indeed the Nation, the Doctoral Program in Organizational Leadership has been in existence for more than 25 years and has a distinguished record of achievement. For example, of the 500 California school district superintendents who received their terminal degrees from institutions in the state, about 150, or 30 percent, were trained at University of La Verne. In addition to training an impressive number of chief executives for school districts in California, the University of La Verne has prepared outstanding leaders in a range of fields including higher education, health, governmental service, non-profits, the military, and business and industry.

The Doctoral Program in Organizational Leadership at the University of La Verne is the largest and most successful program of its kind in the Western United States. It is not the best because it is the biggest. It is the biggest because it is the best! There are many doctoral programs in leadership in California that are less expensive and less demanding.
