The delivery system is based on the latest research in adult learning, multiple intelligences, learning modalities, constructivism, and brain development. Research and learning theory were also used to determine the best ways to integrate technology to facilitate learning. To develop knowledge and skills, a blend of both high tech and high touch elements are incorporated.
Face-to-face interaction is used for skill development, feedback, and integration of learning. This skill and knowledge development occurs in practicums and community events held throughout the year. Learning groups in the student's geographic area provide ongoing support, reflection and coaching.
Technology delivers much of the content which provides students access any time, any place, and as often as needed. Also, technology allows students to communicate across the program any time through discussion boards, interactive online seminars and participation in virtual teams.
Students develop their skills through fieldwork projects and a culminating contribution that integrates the skills and knowledge developed during the program. This contribution can take the form of traditional research or action research designed to fit the needs of students. The figure at the top of this page depicts the interaction of the program delivery elements during the year.
