Two Teacher Education Students Receive Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship Awards (01-28-2008)
Remi Burton and Lisa Naranjo, both ULV Teacher Credential students, were honored recently as Beta Mu Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship recipients.

Remi recalls knowing that she wanted to pursue teaching the first day after she began substitute teaching in January of 2007 for Bonita Unified School District. She describes her experience as, “each of those days brought triumphs and excitement as well as an education in learning about kids’ social behaviors.... The icing on the cake is receiving this award.”

Lisa completed her undergraduate degree at ULV in May 2000. She worked for a time as a group counselor in Juvenile Hall facility and found herself looking toward a more proactive role in the development of children and young adults. She enrolled in Teacher Education at ULV and her positive experience here helped her prepare for her job as a teacher. Lisa advises new teachers, “Your heart has to be in it……It is a great profession.”

Congratulations to both Lisa and Remi on receiving the Beta Mu Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship Award.
