International Graduate Students

Thank you for your interest in the University of La Verne. Each year we welcome applications from students living in countries throughout the world. Listed below are important steps to follow when submitting your Application for Admission. It is important that you follow each procedure carefully to avoid any delays in the processing of your application.

  1. Submit your application fee along with your application for admission. This fee is non-refundable and must be an International Money Order (U.S. dollars). Personal or bank checks will not be accepted.
  2. Submit a Statement of Purpose indicating your goals for graduate studies. This statement need be only about 200 words long (one typed page).
  3. Request official copies of your academic records from the colleges or universities from which you hold degrees; have these records sent to Graduate Admissions and Academic Services, University of La Verne. These records must be in English and verify dates of attendance, courses taken, number of units for each course, and grades, marks, and degrees received.
  4. Verify minimal proficiency in English by submitting one of the following:
    1. A score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 550 or above
    2. Documentation of a degree from a college or university where English is the primary language of instruction and of the geographical area
    3. Satisfactory completion of the University of La Verne English Proficiency Test (EPT)
    4. Satisfactory completion of prerequisite ESL courses as indicated by placement criteria
  5. Financial assistance is not available to international students; therefore, the attached University of La Verne Confidential Financial Statement must be completed, accompanied by a current bank statement, and returned to us.

An I-20 will be issued after the student has been formally admitted and has submitted a $200 non-refundable tuition deposit. The University of La Verne has established its policies in accordance with United States immigration regulations. Please follow all procedures to avoid delays in processing your application.

Estimated Annual Costs for International Graduate and Doctoral Students

The U.S. Government requires that educational institutions issuing I-20 forms to students expecting to enter the U.S. on an F-1 visa verify the source and availability of funds to support the student (and family, if applicable) during the period of study. You must complete the International Graduate Student's Financial Statement.
