Housing

What is it like to live on campus?
The residence halls will be your student's home away from home. It is like a melting pot where your student will encounter unlimited different perspectives to enjoy and learn from. At ULV, we understand that leaving home can be a big change. In the residence halls, our community strives to provide different activities that appeal to everyone's interests.

What if my child doesn't get along with his/her roommate?
Your student's Resident Assistant is available to help your student resolve this problem.

What does my child have to do if he/she decides to move back home?
Your student will have to contact the Associate Director, Housing and he will advise you with the process of canceling your contract with Housing.

Who should my child talk to if someone in the residence halls was harassing them?
Your student's Resident Assistant is available to help your student resolve this problem.

What types of food are served in the dining halls?
The Davenport Dining Hall offers an all-day self-serve salad bar that includes fruits servings, soup & condiments. There is also a section for sandwiches, cold cereal, pastries & dessert. From our Grilled to order broiler specials and the International Exhibition station, to our hand tossed pizza specialties, Davenport has become THE place to dine!

Academics

Who can I talk to about my child's academic performance?
Most importantly, you should talk to your student, first, about his or her academics before you talk to anyone else. If you want more information than your student provides you can talk to their academic advisor. This person is usually a professor in your student's major courses.

How easily accessible are the professors?
9 times out of 10, the professors are always in their offices. They are eager and willing to help the students in whatever way necessary; whether it is for registration purposes or just someone to talk to. The professors are readily available.

Is there a place where my student can go if they need tutoring?
For those students who feel that they need tutoring, the Learning Enhancement Center, otherwise known as the LEC, is available for them. There are peer tutors in all subjects from Chemistry to English. The LEC is open 5 days a week.

Where can my student go to purchase their textbooks?
Located on campus is the University of La Verne Bookstore. The bookstore is open Monday - Saturday. Everything a student could possibly need for class can be found here.

Safety

How safe is my student in the residence halls?
Campus Safety frequently patrols the residence halls. The Resident Assistants are also available to keep order on the floors.

Clubs and Organizations

How can my student get involved on campus?
There are many opportunities for students to become involved while at the University of La Verne. There are many clubs as well as six Greek organizations to choose from. During Club Fair students are able to sign up to be a part of a club of interest.

Do your Greek organizations practice hazing?
Here on the University of La Verne campus, hazing is prohibited. If any hazing activities occur, that organization could potentially be expelled from campus.

Athletics

What sports are offered at La Verne?
Here on campus there are many different sports to choose from. We have anything from basketball to track and field.

What are the requirements to be part of a sports team?
Any student that would like to participate on a sports team must keep at least a 2.0 grade point average. The student must also be in good standing with the Registrar's Office. If one's GPA falls below the minimum of 2.0.
