Student Staff

Residence Hall Staff
Each residence hall staff includes a full-time professional live-in staff member and a team of trained student leaders commonly known as Resident Assistants (RAs). RAs complete an extensive selection and training program in preparation for their responsibilities in the residence halls. A live-in staff member is also available at the Sheraton Fairplex to provide counseling, programming, enforce policy and act as a liaison between the Office of Housing and Residential Life and the Sheraton Fairplex management staff.

Resident Assistants (RA)
An RA is a peer-level advisor, informal counselor, program facilitator, disciplinarian, and friend to residential students. They are the day-to-day contact person for their "community." A community is a floor or wing under the guidance of the RA. However, RAs are also responsible to the entire residential complex. RAs are on duty in each residence hall and available at a hall desk between 5:30pm - 11:00pm each evening and in their rooms between 11:00pm - 8:00am.

Housing Student Leader Selection Process
Dependable, ambitious and sincere students are needed annually to work as Resident Assistants at ULV. Many students apply for this position. To be considered a viable candidate you will need to prepare yourself for the job. You can enhance your qualifications of getting an RA job. For starters, you might want to become an active member of your community/floor in your building by volunteering and planning events and becoming aquainted with the current RA in your area. Additional preparation may include peer-counseling experience, development of leadership techniques, experience working with groups and coordinating events.
