About the University

Founded in 1891, the University of La Verne is a Carnegie Doctoral Intensive University, enrolling more than 8,000 students (6,000 FTE). The University’s thirty-six acre central campus is located in La Verne, California, approximately 30 miles east of Los Angeles, beneath the San Gabriel Mountains in the Inland Valley, an area of exceptional economic growth, diversity and cultural opportunities. OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR

 

Position #2948 – Assistant Registrar- Transfer Academic Services (INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY)

The University of La Verne has an opening for an Assistant Registrar with Transfer Academic Services division, this position reports directly to the Registrar.  The basic function of this position is to lead, develop and manage the University of La Verne Memorandum of Understanding and Articulation Agreement initiative between California Community Colleges; provide advising services to transfer students at their respective transfer centers and manage Title V Grant responsibilities. 

 

-Articulation Agreements and Memorandum of Understanding duties include: directing and developing Articulation Agreements and Memorandum of Understandings with California Community colleges; acting as primary liaison; initiating faculty participation and approvals; developing and implementing an annual review process. 

-Transfer Advising duties include: directing outreach strategies to advise Community College students on site at their respective transfer centers in order to achieve transfer, enrollment and revenue goals; establishing an advising schedule; collaborating with academic departments to provide major specific advising; exchange events and matriculation services; designing and implementing an electronic tracking system for monitoring Articulation Agreements and partnering with different departments to develop a BANNER Articulation Module that will streamline the enrollment of transfer students. 

-Title V Grant duties include: fulfilling grant responsibilities pertaining to the transfer initiatives as stipulated in the Title V Grant; directing the University of La Verne Transfer Center as stipulated by the Title V Grant; directing the electronic tracking of students who matriculate to the University of La Verne from Citrus College as stipulated by Title V Grant. 

 

This position requires a Master’s degree with experience in development; planning; management; administration; budgeting; academic advising and public relations.  Candidates must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be computer proficient.  The hiring range for this position is dependent upon qualifications and departmental equity. Position #2868 – Associate Dean, Academic Support and Retention

The University of La Verne has an opening for an Associate Dean of Academic Support and Retention.  The duties for this position include developing, maintaining and evaluating a faculty/staff based advising model; directing faculty/staff advising assignments and monitoring advising loads; developing and conducting advisor training workshops and written advising materials; advising on-campus undergraduate students; assisting the Registrar in recommending and monitoring impact of university wide academic policies and procedures; advising academic deans/department chair regarding analysis and forecasting of classes needed, time/sequencing required to meet course enrollment goals, and matters pertaining to requirements and their impact on enrollment; developing/implementing Fall and Spring re-enrollment strategies; monitoring/tracking student persistence and enrollment patterns, serving as primary point of contact for students facing challenges that compromise persistence; serving as liaison with administrative offices that matriculate students; consulting with academic and budget staff to determine enrollment projections; establishing processes for new admitted students to be advised, register, and matriculate as full time; serving as liaison with Student Affairs to plan and implement New Student Orientation programs; monitoring availability of course offerings and making recommendations to academic departments via deans; providing leadership to Banner Web Committee responsible for monitoring and maintenance of the online registration and matriculation model; assisting the Dean of Academic Support and Retention Services; serving on various committees; and other duties as assigned.  This position requires a Master’s Degree, 3 years of experience in a Higher Education setting, and a minimum of 2 years of experience with advising traditional aged students, retention management, and advising “at risk” traditional aged students, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  The hiring range for this position is dependent upon qualifications and departmental equity. Position #2929 – Associate Director of Admissions, San Fernando Valley Campus

The University of La Verne has an opening for an Associate Director of Admission at the San Fernando Valley Regional Campus in Burbank.  The position reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer while establishing a very close working relationship with the Director of the Regional Campus.  The successful candidate will lead new student recruitment efforts for the Regional Campus including off-site program development.  The duties include meeting student recruitment goals; developing and implementing comprehensive student recruitment plans for the Regional Campus and corporate off-site programs in the region; coordinating the publication needs with the Chief Marketing Officer to develop marketing and recruitment materials for the programs offered at the region; identifying marketing strategies and media purchases for the region in consultation with the Chief Marketing Officer; initiating and maintaining corporate contacts for marketing and student recruitment purposes; serving as the University’s primary liaison at local community colleges in providing information and recruiting students for the entire University (traditional aged and adult students); following-up via phone calls, email, mail and face-to-face with prospective students; coordinating admission decisions; planning and conducting informational meetings, open houses, etc. as appropriate for student recruitment; leading individual student meetings to facilitate the enrollment process; other duties as assigned.  This position requires a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s desired) in Marketing, Communications, Sales or Counseling or a related field and at least three years of proven success in the area of higher education recruitment or other related sales experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Public speaking experience is necessary; telemarketing and Banner training are desired.  Candidates must possess strong verbal/written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.  The hiring range for this position is dependent upon qualifications and departmental equity. UNIVERSITY ADVANCEMENT

 

 2927- Senior Director of Major Gifts, College of Law

The University of La Verne has an opening available for a University Advancement Senior Director of Major Gifts, College of Law.  The successful candidate for this position will be a key member of the major gifts team in an 18-member advancement office and will report to the Deputy Vice President for Major Gifts.  The primary function of the Senior Director of Major Gifts will be to identify, cultivate, solicit and secure major gift support from alumni, businesses, corporations, foundations and individuals for the College of Law.  Secondary functions include major university fundraising initiatives and campaigns.  As Senior Director of Major Gifts, the responsibilities are focused on personal contacts with major gift donors and prospects, including the strategy and preparation for each contact, and an intensive schedule of face-to-face contacts, as well as follow-up after each contact. 

 

The duties of this position include four key areas: (1)Create a portfolio of individuals or organizations capable of giving between $2500 and $50,000 and conduct at least 20 personal visits with prospective donors each month (2) By the end of the first year, meet, qualify and develop donor plans for at least 30 individuals and/or businesses rated as being able to give at least $10,000 annually (3) Successfully manage, implement & achieve the program & fundraising goals of the Board of Visitors (4)Work closely with the Dean, faculty and leaders of the College of Law to achieve the fundraising plan for their priority programs.  Additional responsibilities include formulating, defining and implementing strategies that interest major donors in the university; providing stewardship and volunteer involvement for major donors and high level volunteers; continually identifying new prospective donors and volunteers; maintaining an active schedule of contacts, activities and solicitations; facilitating appropriate relationships between current and prospective major donors and the president, administrators, faculty, and staff of the university; maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the university’s mission, vision, and current programs; and other duties as assigned.

 

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience with three years of direct fundraising experience and proven success in securing major gifts through personal solicitation.  A Master’s degree is preferred. 

 

The successful candidate must demonstrate successful experience and effectiveness in prospect identification, relationship building, and solicitation; must possess excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to give attention to detail, be goal and results oriented, self motivated, and possess the ability to make independent decisions; be a collaborative and team oriented; demonstrate sound judgment when dealing with a wide range of relationships and situations; possess the ability to maintain enthusiasm for hard work, changing priorities, and multiple deadlines, as well as the ability to interact well with a diverse community of faculty, students, and constituents. 

 

This position may require a flexible work schedule, including some overnight travel, evening and weekend meetings and work hours.
