General Education Assessment

The General Education outcomes are grouped into two domains: Mission Elements and General Competencies. The Mission Elements include Personal Growth, Values Orientation, Community Orientation, Awareness of Diversity, and Sustainability. The General Competencies include Writing, Critical Thinking, Information Literacy, and Interdisciplinary Perspective. The assessment of General Education Learning outcomes is conducted under the guidance of the Academic Assessment Committee on a rotation schedule of about five years. The rotation schedule is periodically revised. Assessment procedures include self-report as well as performance measures that are either nationally standardized or locally developed. Findings are shared with appropriate constituencies and stakeholders that lead to action recommendations.
