How can I do a Concentration?
Adding to My Degree at ULV
Some graduate departments and programs have concentrations that students may include, either as part of their degree or in addition to their degree. To add a concentration complete the following:
- If your I-20 will expire before you complete your concentration, you must apply for an Extension of Stay. Talk to the International and Study Abroad Center Advisor about this procedure.
- You must be formally admitted to complete the concentration-with a document of acceptance from both the department/program and the Graduate Student Services.
- You must do complete financial certification if your previous financial certification is more than one year old. The certification must cover a minimum of 6 months. This certification includes:
- An original bank statement from your sponsor/s
- The International Graduate Student Financial Statement
- You must have formally completed your degree before you begin the concentration.
- You must be enrolled full time for all of the terms that you are doing a concentration and the terms must be consecutive. (I.e. if you begin a concentration in Spring term, you must study Spring and Summer.) If necessary, you will need to choose an elective to take so that you can be a full time student.
Remember: You must be enrolled as a full time student when each term that you are completing a concentration. For some students this will require enrolling in a related but not required class.
